A stylish collection of theatrical entertainments which both celebrate and pay tribute to Jane Austen – her life , her work and her literary legacy.
“I think I have now attained the true art of letter writing – which we are told, is to express on paper exactly what one would say to the same person by word of mouth” Jane Austen 1801
Not only one of the most famous and much loved novelists of all time, Jane Austen was also a prolific letter writer. Letters that are wonderfully chatty and rich with information on her everyday life, tastes and opinions.
Using excerpts from these letters and the novels themselves; I have devised a repertoire of short theatrical entertainments which will both amuse and delight whist leaving you feeling just a little more familiar with Miss Austen herself.
With a running time of approximately 60 minutes, the Costumed Collection of fully dressed and staged one act plays and the Conversation series of more informal talks, are the perfect choice for libraries, schools, festivals, book clubs, private parties, museums and galleries. Based in Melbourne, but happily touring country and interstate – wherever lovers of Jane Austen are to be found.
